PTSD (7 responses)
----------
La tristeza por la muerte de mi madre y la angustia que ha provocados a todo en la familia por la culpa de los fuegos artificiales en el mes de Julio del 2020 sufrió un ataque de pánico y al poco tiempo murió por un infarto esto es realmente doloroso
----------
Headaches from the noise
----------
Insomnia, increased anxiety, restlessness
----------
I have ptsd and the fireworks and drag racing & motorbikes are shattering
----------
autism related anxiety, nervousness when crossing streets
----------
Increased near misses while operating machinery at sleep deprived state
----------
As a former cancer patient i worry that lack of sleep will cause recurrence. Plus lack of sleep causes hypertension.
----------
Cannot work with extremely loud music playing outside my bedroom window because of noise and vibration.
----------
Interruption of sleep by loud music from cars.
----------
Re-twisted a sprained ankle when I had to jump back from a drag racing car who not only turned right on red but sped up while turning to nearly hit me. As they drove by the passenger flicked me off with both hands, had his mouth open wide and his tongue out, yelling some profanity. It was clearly intentional.
----------
Triggers PTSD
----------
I'm an actor and have to film my self-tape auditions from home (and audio recording/voiceover), and the noise will frequently if not constantly interrupt or 'ruin a take.' I have to plan around certain times of day. The evenings are usually a no go.
----------
Excessive smell of drugs in the block due to the dealers corner. Huge amounts of garbage related to drug use and alcohol in the block too.
----------
Almost getting run over and injured by speeding cars running red lights
----------
Blood pressure increase/headaches/disruption of working at home/ downgrade of quality of life
----------
Anxiety and sadness
----------
A lot of stress and anxiety from very loud music vibrating our windows all hours of the night. Zero resolution from 311 or the police precinct.
----------
Huge anxiety, and I’ve lived here 30 years. Nothing was like this past summer.
----------
Absolutely considering moving
----------
Lost job/wages due to inability to sleep.
----------
loss of neighborly goodwill
----------
Gunshots by the gang on Arden street. Yelling neighbors! Barking dogs that are left unattended.
----------
Increased dosage of anxiety meds.
----------
Anger, fear, frustration
----------
Groups hanging out together late at night screaming and yelling
----------
Confrontations with offenders when they are asked to reduce noise (usually loud music / parties) can escalate quickly, resulting in possible violence or injury.
----------
Lack of sleep could cause cancer recurrence and also causes weight gain
----------
Depression
----------
Car alarms that go off and last for hours.
----------
I am a peaceable man. I go out of my way to be courteous and friendly to all of my neighbors. This past summer, I found myself often filled with rage, at 3, 4, 5 in the morning. I rarely think violent thoughts, but not only the actual exposure to the constant 24 hour high level noise, but the feeling of being disrespected, even assaulted, and unable to escape even in my own home, causes me to think violent thoughts. That's not good for my health at all, especially during the pandemic. Such disrespect!
----------
For two weeks this summer I was unable to sleep at night due to incessant stop and start fireworks. I could barely function during the day due to sleep deprivation. Never in my life have I experienced this sort of fireworks barrage. At times I felt as if I was living in a war zone. Loud music tends to increase with the temperature. So inconsiderate to one's neighbors.
----------
Increased anxiety and irritability - to clinically significant levels - requiring medication.
----------
Smoke from barbecue into windows and gas exhaust from drag racing
----------
Anxiety, panic attacks, seizures
----------
Tachycardia at night
----------
General bad moods.
----------
Extreme anxiety and stress, issues with hypertension
----------
Anxiety, fear, sleep deprivation, high thyroid hormone levels
----------
as a musician who often works from home (especially during the pandemic) the stress of trying to find pockets of quiet time to be able to record something at home (often under a deadline) has added tremendous stress. this is also true for teaching music lessons remotely from home, which is severely negatively impacted when there is unavoidable noise happening during a child's lesson time.
----------
High blood pressure, weight gain, sleep apnea
----------
Anger and frustration, which causes stomach pain.
----------
Constant high level of stress, sleep deprivation
----------
Severe stress
----------
Fibromyalgia pain getting worse with flinching.
----------
The loud vehicle noise makes me fear at times that our social fabric is fraying because those motorcyclists and car drives who rev up their engines seem to have no concern whatsoever regarding how their behaviour affects other people.
----------
Insomnia
----------
During fireworks, I have experienced fear while walking in the street and nervousness.
----------
Physical danger confronting perpetrators
----------
PTSD triggered, extreme anxiety.
----------
Thank you for trying to be a solution
----------
I got sick due to lack of sleep
----------
Heart issues from stress, disturbance of blood sugar levels due to impaired sleep, inability to concentrate, PTSD, impaired communication due to not be able to hear the caller on the phone
----------
Air pollution from vehicles that idle in the right-hand lane of Broadway (when they aren't simply double-parking).
----------
Hearing loss and sleep deprivation
----------
Frightened to walk in the neighborhood. Think that some of the perpetrators have my address from calls and purposely do more damage in the area I live in
----------
Anxiety, depression, and PTSD conditions greatly increased because of noise
----------
I have lost clumps of hair due to the stress of not being able to sleep for weeks on end due to loud music until 4 or 5am
----------
20+ years in beautiful Wash. Heights... Leaving because of this exact nonsense and inability for it to be stopped. Dirt bikes SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON ANY CITY STREET!
----------
Really dreading spring and summer. Inwood Hill Park was trashed almost every morning. Neighbors helped parks dept. clean up often.
----------
My blood pressure has skyrocketed since moving to Washington Heights, and I now need multiple medications to control it. I believe my condition is a direct result of living with environmental terrorism.
